Tieto’s trainee program offers you the opportunity to be a part of the future, says Anna G Sandberg, a former trainee at Tieto. Tieto is the largest Nordic IT services company. They provide services for the entire IT related life cycle and work in the intersection of technology and business.
What made you interested in the program and why did you apply?
Tieto seemed like a company that really cares about their trainees. I have always been very interested in how companies can develop their business with help from smart IT solutions and therefore Tieto felt like the obvious choice for me, since we are a company where you really can develop within that area.

What were your expectations beforehand?
I was concerned whether or not a pure business student would fit into an IT company. Although, I considered it as a great personal challenge. However, my background proved to be an advantage, both in the trainee program and in my current role; as I have a different set of perspectives on understanding our customers’ needs.
What did you like best about your time as a trainee?
The trainee program provides you with a very broad network from the start. Also the fact that trainees rotate within the company meant that I got a great insight into all of our business. The first weeks as a trainee were very intense but they were also the most fun, since we got to meet many inspiring colleagues, visit offices around the world and meet Tieto’s Leadership Team. I felt very privileged and the feeling of starting my career at such a high level was very special.
What do you do today?
Today I work as a management consultant at Financial Services Consulting. At the moment I am focusing on different payment solutions. Besides that, I also develop my knowledge within Disruptive Technologies, which is innovations that create new markets and networks in already existing markets, such as Blockchain. At Tieto you always have the opportunity to develop. Tieto focuses on accelerate our customers’ businesses and I am proud of the fact that Tieto aims to improve our society.
